Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) reported a fire incident at its petrochemical plant in Pulau Muara Besar early Thursday morning. The fire started in Zone 2 of the facility around 5:56 am.
According to an initial statement from the company, the emergency response team was immediately activated following the fire. The affected area was promptly shut down and secured to prevent further risk. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported. Emergency medical responders are on standby as a precautionary measure.
Despite the incident, other process units at the plant continue to operate normally.
Hengyi Industries emphasised that safety and security remain their top priorities, with continuous monitoring of the surrounding area to ensure the well-being of employees, the community, and the environment.
The company said it is working closely with customers and suppliers to manage commitments and ensure that there is no disruption to the domestic supply chain. Operations remain stable, and product availability is unaffected, it added.
