Fine for restaurant with leaking grease trap

A restaurant in Kuala Belait (KB) was fined BND1,000 yesterday by the Enforcement Division of the KB and Seria Municipal Board for violating Section 12(1), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

The restaurant at Bangunan Pengiran Haji Hashim, Jalan Jaya Negara allegedly failed to maintain the grease trap resulting in leakage.

The restaurant was given seven days to settle the fine, and failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.

If found guilty, a further fine of no less than BND2,000 and no more than BND10,000 will be handed to the company, while subsequent offences will see a penalty fine of no less than BND10,000 and no more than BND30,000 or imprisonment of no less than 12 months.
