Film screening highlights cultural, strategic ties

Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo expressed hopes to strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance political trust, foster cooperation, and boost people-to-people ties in 2025.

He highlighted this at a Chinese film screening during the Brunei Film Blitz yesterday.

He said the effort aimed to advance the China-Brunei strategic partnership and contribute to building a China-ASEAN community with a shared future. He highlighted this year’s milestones, including Brunei’s 40th independence anniversary, China’s 75th founding anniversary and the China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

He noted key achievements, such as Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participation in the China International Friendship Conference and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng’s visit to Brunei Darussalam.

The ambassador, when discussing the film The Wandering Earth, described it as a science fiction adventure showcasing Chinese culture through themes of bravery, solidarity and responsibility in crisis. “It tells the story of a group of brave astronauts setting out to find a new planet for the whole human race when the sun dies out,” the ambassador said.

He also added the film is also a vivid interpretation of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by China.
