Filipino jailed 10 months for overstaying

Senior Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana Haji Abdul Rahman on Tuesday handed a 10 month jail sentence to a Filipino for overstaying in the country.

Immigration prosecutor Hadiyatul Majeedah Usin revealed in court that 64-year-old Madon Jailani Morrok was arrested on May 13 at about 10.17am at Serasa Beach during a joint operation. The defendant was found in a boat.

He failed to produce valid travel documents during the joint operation by enforcement agencies from the Royal Customs and Excise Department, the Labour Department, the Immigration and National Registration Department and Department of Fisheries.

He was brought to the Enforcement Section of the Immigration and National Registration Department for investigations.

Investigation revealed that his Social Visit Pass had expired on March 4, 2018, and had not been extended since then.
