A Filipino woman in the Belait District embraced Islam during a conversion ceremony at the Serikandi Cafe and Restaurant yesterday.
Lee Ann Duhaylungsod Castanares recited the Syahadah and took on her new name Siti Nur Aisyah binti Abdullah Castanares.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, the guest of honour, was welcomed to the venue by Serikandi Chairman and managing director Shaikh Haji Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmad.
The guest of honour and guests also sprinkled scented oil and flowers on Siti Nur Aisyha joined by Alon bin Abdullah @ Hong Boo Heng, who also embraced Islam last month, accompanied by the recitation of Dikir Asyraqal.
Haji Amirol Hafidzin and Shaikh Haji Khalid handed gifts to the new convert to commemorate the occasion. The Belait District Dakwah Unit has recorded seven converts since the start of 2024. – Daniel Lim
