Some 20,097 underprivileged individuals nationwide were bestowed with personal gifts (Kurnia Peribadi) with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The presentation ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday with His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as personal representative of His Majesty, presenting His Majesty’s personal gifts to 1,000 recipients from the Brunei-Muara District.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.
The Kurnia, in the form of cash, comes timely as Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration nears, bringing meaning and joy to recipients comprising those with special needs, orphans, the poor and those receiving monthly welfare assistance.
This marks the 14th iteration, illustrating the generosity and concern of His Majesty for the plight of the underprivileged.
The presentation of His Majesty’s personal gifts ceremony will continue today at Bridex Hall in Jerudong for the Brunei-Muara District recipients, Pusat Insani for Belait District, Main Hall of Tutong District Civic Centre Complex and Temburong Community Hall Complex for Temburong District.
