Dayangku Yasrinnur Hayatul Aqmar binti Pengiran Haji Yakub took second place in the women’s category in the road cycling race held in Tawau, Sabah in Malaysia on June 2.
The sole female representative from Brunei Darussalam brought home a MYR1,500 cash prize. The first place winner was from Kuala Lumpur, while in third place was a competitor from Sabah.
The 82-kilometre race contained several challenges including hills and heavy rain.
Dayangku Yasrinnur Hayatul Aqmar said she hopes her success can serve as a catalyst for the Sultanate’s cycling enthusiasts, especially women, to come forward and participate in races wherever they are held. – Hakim Hassan
