French Ambassador-Designate to Brunei Darussalam Bernard Regnauld-Fabre said the French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA) will hold a series of programmes this year including a talk on Brunei’s economy by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in May.

He spoke on the sidelines of the FBBA annual general meeting at the Radisson Hotel yesterday.

“As the French ambassador, I am happy to be the patron as traditionally, the role goes to the ambassador. This year’s programme has been exciting. We organised a social event at the French Embassy residence in January. Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof also spoke on the economic perspective in ASEAN while I spoke on French-ASEAN in the Indo-Pacific region,” the envoy said.

“This year, we will have Bastille Day to mark French National Day and a petanque competition which was held last year. Both events will be held in July. A French Product Fair is also scheduled for September or October with social interactions on French cars, culinary delights demonstration, beauty products and a get-together event in September.”

Regnauld-Fabre said FBBA is dynamic with some 10 to 20 executive members and about 200 members.

Meanwhile, new FBBA President Jerome Saniez, who is the General Manager of TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) BV, said, “I am amazed with the development in the association, which enhances relations between Brunei and France and promotes exchange of business. With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we can carry out more activities and bring businesses forward,” he said.
