Farmers association elects new executive committee

The Brunei Association of Agriculture Farmers (PPPB) held its annual general meeting where the new executive committee was elected yesterday.

Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Aliudin succeeded Haji Mohaimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari (Interim President) as the current PPPB president for 2024 to 2026.

The executive committee (2024-2026) members are Pengiran (Drs) Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman as deputy president I, Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Saim as deputy president II, Haji Mohaimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari as vice president, Nur Hazel Lim and Hajah Rosita binti Haji Hassan as secretariat members, and Siti Nursyazwani binti Haji Awang and Haji Junit bin Napiah as treasurers.

A representative from each district was also elected as committee members: Zainol bin Mohammad as Brunei-Muara representative, Haji Morshidi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman representing Tutong District, Yang Berhormat Haji Md Salleh bin Haji Othman representing Belait District and Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir representing Temburong District.

PPPB was established in 2021 with the support of the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

The association’s objective is to jointly support efforts towards diversifying the national economic base through the rapid growth of local agricultural industry output with an emphasis on increasing productivity and the use of high technology, as well as focusing on meeting domestic demand and the export market while reducing dependence on import food and support the mission to increase food security in the country, in addition to contributing to the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) as well as the generation of job opportunities to achieve Brunei Vision 2035.

PPPB also aims to support the development of the downstream and support, logistics and recycling sectors related to agricultural activities in creating a circular economy. – Azlan Othman
