Farewell ceremony for Thai exchange teachers

The Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) hosted a farewell ceremony marking the conclusion of a two-week exchange programme for visiting teachers from Thailand yesterday.

The teachers were participants of the Teacher Exchange Programme between Thailand and Brunei Darussalam, which commenced on October 10.

PGGMB President Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman presented certificates of participation to the Thai teachers as well as two PGGMB’s teacher exchange participants, who participated in the Teacher Exchange Programme in Thailand in September.

The event began with closing remarks by Haji Abdul Alim followed by the handing over of school attachment reports by the Thai participants to the PGGMB’s President.

During the exchange programme, the teachers participated in the programme at the assigned PGGMB’s school in the Belait District for an initial period of two weeks.

PGGMB signed a memorandum of understanding with the Teachers’ Council of Thailand (KHURUSAPHA) on a Teacher Exchange Programme between the two teacher associations, which was first implemented in 2018 where both associations will exchange teachers at schools of their host countries.

The programme aimed to further strengthen mutual educational cooperation between the associations, particularly in the area of personal and professional developments of the teachers as well as to provide first-hand experience of teaching in a foreign country. – Lyna Mohamad
