A family of nine embraced Islam in a ceremony at the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) yesterday.
Makri bin Bilai, 46, chose Muhammad Makri bin Abdullah Bilai as his new name while his 48-year-old wife Rosni binti Bantah is now known as Rosni binti Abdul Rahman Bantah.Their seven children, aged between 21 and 10, also have new names following the ceremony.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman witnessed the couple and their children recite the Syahadah and embrace Islam. Officers of the PDI assisted with the conversions, which was followed by a performance of Dikir Marhaban and concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the new converts.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Haji Hassan also attended.
