Family embraces Islam as new faith

An Iban family recently converted to Islam, according to the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).

The conversion ceremony for the family was held at Kampong Sinaut on December 22.

Akun anak Bada, 51, is now Abdul Basir bin Bada, while his wife Viviyan anak Matriban, 41, is now Nur Viviyanti Iftinan binti Abdullah Matriban.

Their 11-year-old son, Aaron Ad-din Ilyasa Anak Akun is now Aaron Ad-din Ilyasa bin Abdul Basir.

Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim was the guest of honour.

The new converts received a replica of Kiblat from the Survey Department. The ceremony also saw the performance of Dikir Marhaban and sprinkle of scented flowers. – Rokiah Mahmud
