“Human nature, as Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala revealed in verses 19 to 23, is inherently restless and miserly. When faced with hardship, we easily fall into anxiety and distress.
“When in comfort, we become selfish. However, those who remain steadfast in their prayers are different,” said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Delivering his welcoming speech at the Israk and Mikraj commemoration, the Minister highlighted the importance of religious devotion in overcoming human weaknesses.
He emphasised that prayer instills discipline and resilience, shaping individuals into stronger believers who can navigate life’s challenges with faith and confidence.
He noted that the annual commemoration serves as a crucial reminder for Muslims to strengthen their religious understanding. He expressed hope that the values taught in schools, higher education institutions, and through da’wah efforts would continue to nurture a generation with firm religious convictions.
The Minister also credited His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s wise and visionary leadership for ensuring that religious teachings remain a cornerstone of national development.
