Leaders of the footballing world comprising more than 3,000 delegates from 211 Federation of Association Football (FIFA) member associations will convene for the 74th FIFA Congress at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand from May 15 until May 17.
A delegation from the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) led by its President Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail will be attending the summit.
Accompanying the president are Deputy President Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni; Acting Secretary General Haji Matali bin Haji Tahir and Executive Committee Member Pengiran Haji Jufry bin Pengiran Haji Jaludin.
The gathering of the top footballing brass marks an unprecedented occasion for Thailand as the first from the region to host the event, while also claiming the honour of becoming only the fifth country from the Asia-Pacific after Japan, South Korea, Qatar and Australia.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino will chair the congress.
Leaders from all six continental football federations including Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, together with General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John will attend it.
The congress will focus on various issues related to football development around the world.
The climax of the Congress will see the voting results of the chosen country to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup – among them are Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. – FADHIL YUNUS
