    FABD appoints new technical director

The Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) yesterday signed a new technical director, Fabio Joaquim Maciel Da Silva, who is looking at bringing changes and further improve the quality of football in the country.

The signing was attended by FABD Interim President Pengiran Haji Kamarunsalehin bin Pengiran Haji Kamis.

Pengiran Haji Kamarunsalehin said, “Our expectation for the Technical Department is to revamp our football in the technical perspective mainly on developing the local coaches at the club as well as the national level, creating more licensed certified coaches by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation.”

He added, “We must create a better system for the national team in terms of development, selection and training of players from the grassroots up to the senior level where we aspire to be a competitive national team in the region.

“We should also focus more on outreach programmes among the wider community to promote football in the country. We can establish links with schools, working closely with the Ministry of Education, to help us develop our youth and capacity building for teachers at the frontlines,“ said the interim president.

Meanwhile the newly appointed Technical Director Fabio Joaquim Maciel Da Silva expressed thanks to FABD.

He said, “We need to ensure our vision and strategies as well as resources are aligned. I am committed to building a football future and winning oriented team at FABD where our players and staff can be proud of what we can achieve together.” – James Kon
