EXO’s Kai returns with “Wait on Me” EP

SEOUL (ANN/KOREA HERALD) – Kai, the captivating main dancer of the K-pop phenomenon EXO, is set to make his highly anticipated return with his fourth EP, “Wait on Me,” his agency SM Entertainment announced. The album, his first release in two years following his military service, will drop on major music streaming platforms at 6:00 pm Monday (April 21), accompanied by the music video for the title track.

“Wait on Me,” the lead single, is described as a vibrant pop song infused with the infectious rhythms of Afrobeats. The track masterfully blends a subtle percussion groove with the building tension of synth string sounds, creating an alluring and dynamic sonic landscape. The lyrics beautifully convey the unfolding of emotions with patience and grace, emphasising the beauty found in taking one’s time.

The “Wait on Me” EP boasts a total of seven tracks, offering a diverse sonic palette for fans. This includes the previously released single “Adult Swim,” which garnered attention for its signature laid-back and refreshing “Kai style.” The EP also features the tracks “Walls Don’t Talk,” “Pressure,” “Ridin’,” “Off and Away,” and “Flight to Paris,” promising a rich and engaging listening experience.

Kai, who debuted as the main dancer of the globally acclaimed group EXO in 2012, embarked on his solo journey with his self-titled first EP, “Kai,” in November 2020. “Wait on Me” marks his first musical offering since completing nearly two years of mandatory military service in February, making this comeback particularly significant for both the artist and his dedicated fanbase. His previous EP, “Rover,” his third solo album, was released in March 2023, further solidifying his position as a compelling solo artist.
