A showcase on how community unity contributes to the achievement of Brunei Vision 2035 was featured at the exhibition on the sidelines of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) annual Hari Raya celebration yesterday.
Themed ‘Community Unity in Achieving National Aspirations’, the exhibition serves as a platform to display and strengthen the spirit of unity in realising the country’s aspirations by appreciating collective efforts that drive socio-economic development and achieve success as an integrated and resilient society.
It showcased how collaboration between various parties in society, including the government sector, non-governmental organisations, private sector and community, plays a role in building a developed, harmonious and competitive country.
Some 20 agencies participated, with Yayasan leading the segment on strategic synergy and encouragement, exhibiting itself as a catalyst in building a united, progressive and competitive society.
Also in this segment were Blueprints (Manpower, Social and Economic Blueprint) and the MIB Secretariat Office as a body holding an important role in preserving and promoting the values of the Malay Islamic Monarchy, showcasing programmes and initiatives, its support for Brunei Vision 2035 in building a harmonious, cultured and prosperous society, as well as strengthening deep national values among youth and students.
The education and capacity building segment featured the Single Mothers Association empowering women and single mothers through skills training and support to improve the quality of life; and Annur Harapan supporting neurodivergent youth and equipping them with basic life and employment skills to help them achieve independent living and employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, local financial institutions Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei and Baiduri Bank demonstrated their role in educating the community on financial management and entrepreneurship, in line with Brunei Vision 2035 to create a sustainable and resilient society.
AM Counselling ensured the availability of mental health support and emotional guidance to at risk groups in the community through counselling sessions, awareness workshops and personal development programmes.
Economy and entrepreneurship featured the BEDB Project, showcasing their role in driving economic development through investment and innovation.
National carrier Royal Brunei Airlines showcased their role not only in developing the tourism sector through ‘Bridging Brunei To The World’, but also their impact on helping the community through initiatives such as the ‘Ikhlas From The Heart’ programme.
Social well-being featured the Village Neighbourhood Watch, a body that plays an important role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the community. The mosque takmir committee showcased its efforts in strengthening religious and social values in the community through educational and welfare programmes in line with the country’s aspirations to build a balanced and harmonious society.
Meanwhile, Village Councils showcased how the council pays attention to their role as representatives of the local community at the grassroots level understanding the needs and aspirations of local residents.
The Wargamas Association displayed how it plays an important role in strengthening the social well-being of the disabled, senior citizens, youth, fellow citizens and rehabilitation programmes. – Lyna Mohamad
