Events mark Teacher’s Day celebration

The School Leadership Committee held a ceremony on Sunday for officials and teachers of religious schools to commemorate the 34th Teacher’s Day celebration and to honour the services of five retired religious school teachers under Brunei Zone 1.

The ceremony at a restaurant in Telanai began with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Kesyukuran.

The chief guest was Islamic Studies Officer for Brunei Zone I at the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajah Halimatul Saadiah binti Haji Wahsalfelah.

The ceremony featured performances by teachers and the presentation of souvenirs to retired teachers in 2024.

One of the primary objectives of the ceremony was to acknowledge and appreciate the outstanding performance of teachers and schools throughout the year. – Azlan Othman

Sinaran Pelangi School

The Teacher’s Day celebration at Sinaran Pelangi School was a heartwarming event filled with gratitude and appreciation for the school’s teachers.

Students expressed their heartfelt thanks through performances and thoughtful gifts. In return, principal Wong and the teachers presented gifts to executive director Loo Shee Yun and senior administrator Tang Sie Kiang, recognising their leadership and contributions to the school.

The celebration culminated in an appreciation dinner at a restaurant, hosted by Loo. During the dinner, she expressed her gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and presented them with tokens of appreciation. – James Kon

Tungku Primary School

Tungku Primary School organised its first-ever inter-department funbowl tournament on
Sunday to commemorate its golden jubilee and Teacher’s Day celebration.

The event in Batu Satu was coordinated by the school’s co-curriculum activity committee.

The tournament aimed to foster camaraderie among the school’s teachers and staff while promoting active participation in sports and taking a break from teaching and daily tasks.

Thirteen teams, comprising teachers and staff, competed in the lively tournament.

The Lucky Strikers team emerged victorious followed by the Pin Panthers and The A Team.

Individual accolades were also awarded, with Siti Norajimah binti Haji Abu Bakar named the most valuable player, Hajah Shamsiah binti Haji Burut with the most strikes and Kathy Marlina binti Haji Majid with the most spares. The Invincibles team was also honoured for the best dressed.
