Ethical business pact welcomes 20 new members

The Brunei Energy Industry Integrity Pact (BEIIP) welcomed 20 new companies at a signing ceremony at Tarindak D’Seni yesterday.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the guest of honour, presented certificates of commitment to the new signatories.

Companies that joined the pact yesterday were Aisha Automation Sdn Bhd, Aziz Latif Transport Sdn Bhd, BT Forwarding Sdn Bhd, Danamas Corporation Sdn Bhd, Exceltech Solutions Sdn Bhd, Fast Offshore Supply Pte Ltd, Inchcape Shipping Services Holdings Ltd, Jasra Logistics Sdn Bhd, LiftCo Sdn Bhd, Mashhor Waste Management Sdn Bhd, Megalift Sdn Bhd, Miclyn Express Offshore Pte Ltd, PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd, Shell Exploration and Production Brunei BV, Syarikat Razali Amat Sdn Bhd, TeamOne Environmental Technologies Sdn Bhd, Safeline Sdn Bhd, Comquest Sdn Bhd, ChampionX and Borr Eastern Peninsula Pte Ltd.

The signing ceremony was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Building an Effective Corporate Anti-bribery and Corruption’ programme’. The panelists were Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd Managing Director and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Baiduri Bank Deputy CEO for Compliance, Corporate Governance and Legal Support Manuel Bulens and Petronas Carigali Brunei Sdn Bhd Chief Compliance Officer Azizi bin Md Ali.

The pact is an agreement between energy companies in the Sultanate to uphold integrity and ethics in doing business.

Pact members pledged to ensure internal controls are in place to assess, prevent, detect, and monitor integrity and compliance risks.

To date, BEIIP has 108 members comprising local and international companies.

Attorney General Dato Seri Paduka Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Di-Raja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, Acting Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos and Acting Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the PMO Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra were also present. – James Kon
