Entrepreneurial projects seek to bring solutions to MoH problems

Winners of the Startup673 i-Entrepeneur Programme Phase 1 – Ministry of Health (MoH) Edition seek to bring solutions to challenges faced by the ministry with their projects.

Champions ‘The Youth’ team leader Mohammad Shamsul Nabil Nashreen bin Haji Mohammad Shamsul Bahreen shared that their project, ‘Medical Training Hub’, is a centralised database app that provides health-related training courses.

“It provides three core features: easy booking, real-time notifications, and automated instant e-certificates and e-licence,” he said.

“The platform helps ensure healthcare professionals stay updated and confident in their skills, without being concerned on licence validity,” he added.

Mohammad Shamsul Nabil Nashreen said the project came about after observing the current process of obtaining basic life support training courses, and hoped the platform can expedite the process and make courses more accessible.

“I am pleasantly surprised to have won, considering there are over 60 participants with brilliant solution ideas being pitched. It somewhat reinforces our belief in the value of hard work and dedication as a team.

“For the next phase of the competition, we’ll be diving into the development of a prototype for our application,” he said, adding they are confident that with the opportunity and guidance provided by the programme, they will be able to fully realise the project.

“The competition had strengthened our team’s collaboration as we listened to different perspsectives. We also fostered our design thinking through various workshops.”

Meanwhile, Ahmad Farid bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Ali from the second placed ‘Team Solve’ said their ‘One Stop Fix’ project hoped to provide engineers and technicians working with the ministry with spare parts for in-house repairs at hospitals.

“The main problem we found was that when there was a problem, technicians didn’t have parts to fix them,” he explained.

He said that in Phase 2 of the competition, the team will be creating and testing their minimum viable product.

Ahmad Farid said the competition has been life changing after meeting people with many different backgrounds “opened our minds” as well as gaining entrepreneurial experience through the workshops.

The Startup673 i-Entrepreneur Programme – MoH edition is a joint initiative between the ministry, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), Shell LiveWIRE Brunei, Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI) and Brunei Innovation Lab to develop capacity and skills of i-Ready officers.

It seeks to stimulate innovation and spark creativity through entrepreneurship and offer skills or ventures for participants to develop after completing the i-Ready programme at the ministry. – James Kon
