A delegation from the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO Voctech) Regional Centre recently paid a visit to Timor-Leste’s President Jose Ramos-Horta at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace in Dili, Timor-Leste.
The delegation, led by of SEAMEO Voctech Regional Centre Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar, aimed to advance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Timor-Leste and strengthen ties.
President Jose Ramos-Horta emphasised on the importance of TVET in Timor-Leste’s journey towards sustainable development and economic progress.
Meanwhile, the centre director shared SEAMEO Voctech Regional Centre’s background and its mandate, adding that the centre plays a vital role in enhancing the region’s TVET systems.
Also present during the visit was Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Timor-Leste Wan Hadfi Lutfan bin Haji Abdul Latif. – Rokiah Mahmud
