The Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office through the Tutong District Information Branch held a Personal Contact Programme for Kampong Telisai in Mukim Telisai, Tutong District at the Tumpuan Telisai Primary School on Thursday.
It aimed to convey information on current issues, government policy and gather feedback requiring attention and action from government agencies.
Acting Senior Information Officer Izzah Hazirah binti Haji Adi Othman, as the Acting Head of the District Branch, led the delegation of the Information Department.
The programme commenced with an introduction by the group leader, who highlighted the department’s role as the government’s voice, eyes and ears in delivering up-to-date information, policies and current issues to the public. This is achieved through various channels, including the Personal Contact Programme and the publication of the Pelita Brunei newspaper.
As part of the department’s strategy, the programme aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the government and the community. It provides critical information and organises community engagement initiatives that contribute to the development and progress of districts and villages.
The programme also addressed public awareness on the dangers of fake information, its impact and the procedures for reporting such cases.
The event also featured a dialogue session with Mukim Telisai Penghulu Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin, Kampong Telisai Village Head Sofian bin Haji Mohammad Yusof and local residents. Discussions focused on issues related to infrastructure, security and public facilities in the village.
Officials from government agencies, including the Department of Electrical Services, Public Works Department, Water Services Department, Forestry Department, and Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) were present. – Fadhil Yunus
