Empowering students through showcase

Masin Secondary School held a student learning showcase for its Year 10 students at its multipurpose hall yesterday.

The event is aimed at empowering student development through an effective learning environment.

Chief of the Academic Division, Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education Hajah Nisah binti Haji Gharif officiated the programme.

School Principal Hajah Norwen binti Haji Brahim said the programme showcased eight Year 10 classes presenting their group projects with various creative ideas based on their learning outcomes.

The exhibited projects included literature and dance projects under the Malay language subject; the common public transportation in tourism project for the travel and tourism subject; the active reading project for English language; food and nutrition; Combined science; agriculture; Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) related to Bruneian traditional foods; the practical Kaabah project under the Islamic religious knowledge subject; and the car washing service project for the life skill subject.

The principal said the school has seen how students are able to integrate essential 21st-Century skills, known as the 5Cs (communication, creative thinking, critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration).

She added, “This demonstrates that these students are capable of achieving something extraordinary, as the Malay proverb says: ‘If you do not shatter the coconut shell, how can you get the coconut flesh?” – Adib Noor
