Employers still fail to register workers under TAP, SCP schemes

Azlan Othman

Twenty-nine local workers were yet to be registered under the Employees Trust Fund (TAP) and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP) schemes. Enforcement officers from TAP made this discovery following an inspection on 39 premises in the Belait District recently.

The visit aimed to ensure that every employee were registered under the retirement savings scheme and for the employer to be responsible in making contributions to the TAP and SCP schemes.

Employers can register through TAP’s online service, e-Amanah.

TAP urged employers to register their employees to avoid offences.

Employers can be fined no less than BND3,000 for the first offence and no more than BND10,000 for the second and subsequent offences.

Complaints on enforcement matters can be made by calling 8998290 or e-mail enforcement@tap.com.bn.

For complaints regarding unpaid or unregistered contributions, employees can visit TAP branches, call TAP Call Centre at 2382929 or e-Amanah.
