The Law Enforcement Division at the Labour Department uncovered a violation during an inspection in the commercial building area of Kampong Kiulap recently.
The inspection revealed a case of non-compliance by an employer, where the employer violated foreign worker license conditions. The issue involved a general labourer performing duties as a goods delivery person and using a vehicle registered under another company, contrary to the permitted job title.
Employers found violating the Employment Order, 2009 can face a compound fine of up to BND1,000.
The failure to pay the fine may result in court proceedings. The Labour Department reminded employers to monitor workers’ welfare in accordance with the Employment Order, 2009. – Fadley Faisal
