Employee Wellbeing Week promotes work-life balance

Embodying the theme ‘Healthy is the new Happy’, Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) launched its first ever Employee Wellbeing Week, a brand new employee engagement initiative by their Human Resource Department recently.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in his capacity as the Chairman of JPMC and PJSC during the launch said, “At the heart of the hospitals’ success, lies the admirable commitment and unyielding dedication of our employees. Each day, our employees give their level best to provide quality work and compassionate care, support and hope to those who have readily entrusted them in their service.

“Just as they have prioritised those in their care, so must we put to the forefront, our employees’ wellbeing and health”.

The event began with the recital of Doa by religious officer Ishkandar bin Haji Buntar, followed by the minister officiating the event.

Vendors had the chance to speak with the minister during the booth tour on the knowledge and experiences they can provide to promote healthy lifestyles through better food choices and promotion of mental health.

During the Employee Wellbeing Week, employees had the opportunity to join activities, reward challenges and attend talks aimed nurturing four key elements of their wellbeing: their mental health, sense of fulfillment and purpose, physical fitness and not forgetting their financial stability.

“Employee Wellbeing Week is a testament to both JPMC and PJSC’s commitment in pioneering and leading a corporate culture that aims to put their people first. In creating a supportive work environment that values the wellbeing of the staff, it is in the hope to empower our people to provide exceptional care to patients and the community,” said JPMC and PJSC Human Resource Manager Genevieve Yee.

The minister also announced the implementation of a new Mental Health Day Leave policy, reaffirming the company’s commitment to the wellbeing and mental health of its employees.

This initiative aims to provide support and flexibility for employees requiring time off to attend to their mental health needs.

The event from July 10-14 aimed to foster a positive work environment show appreciation to the employees.
