As the blessed month of Ramadhan draws to a close, the Friday sermon reminded the Muslim community of the importance of strengthening their faith and devotion to Allah the Almighty. The sermon emphasised that those who attain the highest status in the sight of Allah the Almighty are the ones who maintain piety and righteousness.
The congregation was urged to continue performing acts of worship and good deeds, as the rewards promised by Allah the Almighty are boundless. The sermon highlighted the uncertainty of life, reminding believers that they may not have the opportunity to experience another Ramadhan. Thus, they were encouraged to seize the remaining days of the holy month to seek forgiveness and engage in virtuous deeds.
As the community prepares to welcome the month of Syawal and celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the sermon stressed the need for moderation and gratitude. It called upon Muslims to avoid extravagance and unnecessary spending during the festive period. Instead, they were reminded to celebrate Hari Raya in a simple and meaningful way, focusing on strengthening familial and social bonds rather than indulging in material excess.

Quoting the Holy Quran, the sermon warned against wastefulness, stating that those who are wasteful are likened to the companions of Satan, who is known for his ingratitude towards his Creator. The importance of financial prudence and social responsibility was reiterated, encouraging Muslims to prioritise helping the needy and giving in charity.
The sermon also reminded the congregation of the obligation of paying Zakat Fitrah before the celebration of Eid. This charitable act purifies one’s fasting and ensures that the less fortunate can partake in the joy of the festive occasion. It was noted that Zakat Fitrah is a fundamental pillar of Islam that every capable Muslim must fulfill.
In welcoming Hari Raya, the sermon highlighted the recommended Sunnah practices, including performing Takbir on the night of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, engaging in acts of remembrance and supplication, and attending the Hari Raya Aidilfitri prayer. It also encouraged Muslims to wear their best attire in a modest manner and to greet one another with warm wishes, reinforcing the spirit of unity and brotherhood.
The sermon concluded with a call for the Muslim community to embrace the joy of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with gratitude, avoiding sinful and inappropriate celebrations. It urged believers to maintain the spiritual discipline cultivated during Ramadan and to continue seeking Allah the Almighty’s guidance and blessings.
