KUALA LUMPUR (ANN/THE STAR) – Ella, Malaysia’s queen of rock, has rebuffed claims that a recent hacking of her Facebook account was a mere gimmick to promote her concert in Penang on October 28, a Malaysian news agency reported.
Ella, whose real name is Nor Zila Aminuddin, said the incident upset her.
“I already lodged two reports on the matter at the Sungai Buloh and Shah Alam police headquarters. I’ve also reported it to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” she said.
During a TV programme, Ella challenged the hackers to meet her face-to-face.
“I was brave enough to challenge the one who hacked my social media account because what the hacker did was wrong.
“Besides, I have a bodyguard to protect me. I would never take a gamble on my social media presence just to hype up a concert.
“Social media is a place where we work, so it is not something to be trifled with,” she added.
After her birthday celebration, the singer, who turned 57 on Monday, said the police reports were also about the hacker’s attempt to embarrass her by uploading an indecent video.
At the event, Ella announced her upcoming concert at Spice Arena in Bayan Lepas, Penang, following the success of her concert at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur in June.
