A safety awareness campaign titled ‘Ride safely with Schindler’ showcasing the importance of safety on using elevators, escalators and travellators organised by Schindler Liftec Sdn Bhd was launched at The Mall, Gadong yesterday.
Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) Assistant Director Haji Nor Yasmin bin Haji Mohd Noor was the guest of honour.
Antah Schindler (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Existing Installation Director Keith Ngu, Schindler Liftec (Brunei) Sdn Bhd Director Pengiran Haji Mohd Alimin bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, and Schindler Liftec (Brunei) Sdn Bhd General Manager Hajah Sakinah binti Haji Enchi were also present.
The event was officiated by the guest of honour.
Keith said in his welcoming remarks that children are susceptible to accidents on elevators and escalators, and the number of accidents have increased in neighbouring countries especially since the lifting of movement restrictions post-pandemic. The event, which will continue until tomorrow aims to educate children through fun-filled activities such as mini games, colouring contests and general knowledge education on the spot.
The event is part of Schindler Liftec Sdn Bhd’s commitment to ensure the public, especially children, understand how to ride safely on escalators and elevators as it is important to understand the dangers and how to prevent accidents from happening and for all users to understand the signage put up on all the equipment and to follow it accordingly.
