The Belait Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE Belait) organised a roti canai workshop for over 30 members at the Youth and Sports Department at Jalan Bunga Rambai on Tuesday.
The workshop was one of the many initiatives encouraging senior citizens to get involved in engaging activities, and at the same time, affording them the know-how in starting up a business.
The knowledge gained during the workshop will help further develop the centre, PKWE Belait President Salimo said, adding that, “We are planning to open a small eatery, where senior citizens can band together to cook dishes which can be sold to support senior citizens and the centre. Additionally, it will encourage them to spend time together and share cooking knowledge with one another.”
This adds on to the string of daily and weekly activities at the centre, ranging from sewing lessons to religious classes.
Ilmar Enterprise chef Haji Wan Ramli bin Ibrahim showed participants the tricks to making the perfect roti canai, prepared in a manner that makes it profitable. By the end of the workshop, participants were able to savour their creations.
