Two pharmacists from the Ministry of Health (MoH), Sebastian Koh and Wardah binti Haji Mohamed Daud, delivered a talk educating the elderly on the importance of proper medication use.
They delivered the talk during a community event on ‘Awareness and Impact of Community-Based Medication Review’ recently, in conjunction with World Pharmacists Day.
The event, organised by Year 3 Pharmacy students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), in collaboration with the MoH and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), saw 45 elderly participants and promoted proper medication use and aimed to improve health outcomes.
The event focused on educating participants about their medications, promoting safe and effective use, and reducing the risk of adverse drug events. Personalised Medication Use Review (MUR) sessions were conducted by the students under the supervision of UBD and UNAIR lecturers and MoH pharmacists. The participants also received tailored advice on their medication plans and had the opportunity to address any concerns.
