Eight teams to compete in youth football league

Eight teams will compete in the HiTune Sports School Youth Football League Challenge 2024 which will kick off today until July 19.

The teams include from Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) Football Club, AKSE Bersatu, Brazilian Football Academy Brunei (BFA), Dash Football Academy, Kasuka, Sports School Brunei Darussalam.

Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was the guest of honour at the launching ceremony at the Lecture Theatre, Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) yesterday.

Chairman of Yakin Football League Jasiswandy bin Jasni said the league will showcase the talents of the young players.

According to a representative from the Sports School Brunei Darussalam, the league will be contested for one round only.

As the league is held for invited teams for this year, there are also plans of increasing the number of teams in the future.

Meanwhile, a FABD representative has highlighted the importance of youth and grassroots football as assets of the country.

A representative from the Brunei Darussalam Football Referees Association also added that they will work closely with the organisers and provide cooperation throughout the organisation of the league.

The league is powered and organised by Yakin Football League and Sports School Brunei Darussalam. – Fadhil Yunus
