Eight petrol stations under inspection this month

The Weights and Measures (SDT) Unit, Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy will continue to carry out verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at selected fuel stations in August.

The affected fuel stations are Syarikat Kerjasama Kampong Tanjong Nangka (Satenaga) Petrol Station tomorrow; Syarikat Badan Tanmiah Petrol Station on August 5; Syarikat TAIB Beribi Petrol Station on August 7; Syarikat Pengalayan Petrol Station on August 8; Syarikat Tasamul Petrol Station on August 9; Syarikat Koperasi Peladang Petrol Station on August 10; Syarikat Sungai Bakong Lumut Petrol Station on August 12 and Syarikat PHA Bakar bin Jambol Petrol Station on August 21.

In ensuring the safety and well-being of the public as well as the workforce involved, the fuel stations will be closed from 9am until completion, with the inspection and verification process estimated to take two hours.

The inspection and verification is in accordance with Chapter 151 of the Weights and Measures Act 1983.

As per the stipulated guidelines under the Act, all weighing and measuring instruments used for trading purposes are required to be checked for their accuracy and validity, and that the instruments have already been registered with the SDT Unit.

The routine inspection is conducted three times a year. – James Kon
