Eight COVID-19 cases were detected at the Gadong wet market, comprising two vendors and six assistants, said Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong at a press conference yesterday.

Four individuals who tested positive during testing with COVID-19 antigen rapid test (ART) kits by the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department on Monday, were instructed to undergo PCR tests as part of the standard operating procedure.

On Tuesday, another four were instructed to undergo PCR testing after testing positive from ART kits during a round of tests on vendors stationed at the building next to the wet market. PCR tests confirmed four positive cases while another four results are pending.

The vendors were told not to operate.

Vendors were also urged to practice protocol and a cleaning campaign was also conducted. The BSB Municipal Department conduct tests every week to vendors operating at the wet market.
