The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy fined eight companies for violating Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act, and regulations under it during a daily routine inspection recently.
The offences included not displaying the price tags for items sold in the business premises, displaying misleading price tags and displaying inconcistent price tags in the payment system for multiple items.
Some subsidised goods such as glutinous rice were also found to be priced above the set price.
Before the end of October, six business premises were issued with warnings for similar offences.
