UPI – A British charity auction saw an egg, bought from a supermarket, sell for USD250 thanks to its rare “almost perfectly spherical” shape.
The egg, originally discovered in a carton purchased from a grocery store in Ayr, Scotland, was auctioned by Thomson Roddick Callan and acquired by Ed Pownell of Lambourn, Berkshire, for USD187.
Pownell, who admitted to buying the egg on a whim, later donated it to the Iuventas Foundation, a charity supporting youth in Oxfordshire.
The charity group sold the egg as part of a fundraiser auction on website 32auctions.
