Educators, officers gain agricultural insight during visit

Over 90 officers and teachers from the Career Education Unit, secondary schools, science college and sixth form centres visited the Faculty of Agriculture and Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre of University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Sinaut Campus on Tuesday.

The visit aimed to learn more about the programmes offered at the faculty and Sinaut Campus.

Head of Pre-Graduate at the Faculty of Agriculture Anisah Syakirah binti Anwari and Head of Pre-Graduate at Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre Dr Siti Nur Idayu binti Haji Mastusin delivered presentations.

The group also toured the infrastructure at the Sinaut Campus including the scientific laboratory, herbs house, aquaculture pond, agronomic farm and halal innovation kitchen.

Brief presentations on the Ibnu Sina Scientific Laboratory enlightened the visitors on the amenities and lab facilities at the Sinaut Campus to support the academic curriculum and research that needs lab practical and scientific studies.

Among the programmes on offer since the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture in January 2021 are Agriculture Bridge, Agribusiness Degree, Agrotechnology Degree, Agriculture Science Degree and PhD.

The latest programme is Aquaculture which will be offered in January next year while the Aquaculture Degree Programme will begin in August 2024.

The programmes are designed with input from local and overseas specialists, industries and government departments including the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism to ensure it’s relevance with the current needs. – Lyna Mohamad
