The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam conducted a talk on the Japanese Government Scholarship for school leaders and career education teachers from government secondary schools, colleges, and sixth form centres at Lecture Theatre 2, Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI) yesterday.
Embassy representatives who presented the talk included Third Secretary (PR, Cultural Affairs and Education) Maria Ozaki, Noraini binti Haji Shawal, and Lim Jia Yuan. Brunei Association of Japan Alumni (BAJA) President Hajah Najmina Fairuz binti Haji Abd Latif, a former scholarship recipient who pursued undergraduate studies at Kobe University, also addressed the gathering.
Acting Head of the Career Education Unit, Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education Hajah Ameerah Hannah binti Haji Abd Rahim presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers.
The talk, an initiative of the Career Education Unit, aimed to raise awareness of scholarship opportunities for Bruneians pursuing tertiary education. According to the Embassy of Japan, about 130 Bruneians have received the prestigious scholarship since 1987.
