Educational event highlights the dire effects of drug misuse, trafficking

The misuse of drugs and drug trafficking is the cause of social disease that brings not only destruction to an individual but also to family members, the community, nation and country, said National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) Head Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali in her remarks during an event at Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB) on Thursday.

She added, “Individuals already addicted to drugs can do things that violate the code of conduct, religious law as well as laws of the country such as cheating, stealing, injuring people and life, damaging property and impacting the harmony and well-being of family in order to get drug supplies.”

The misuse of drug prevention education event, organised by the college, the college’s Parent-Teacher Association and BASMIDA, saw over 300 MDPMAMB students and teachers in attendance.

Following the speech, Head of Counselling and Religious Understanding Unit (KAFA) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Saharuddin bin Haji Petra delivered a tazkirah on the relationship with maintaining five matters in Maqasid Syariah that touched on the aspect of drug misuse and trafficking.
