Twenty-six officers from the Ministry of Education (MoE) received certificates after concluding a year-long programme on big data analytics that utilises machine learning yesterday at the ministry building.
The programme, ‘Project-Based Consultancy and Training (PBCTrain) in Big Data Analytics for Education Programmes’ uses a project and workplace action learning approach with support from experts, said Acting Director of the Department of Planning, Development and Research at the MoE Dr Hajah Sallimah binti Haji Mohd Salleh in her speech at the event.
A session was held to showcase five sub-project sets under the programme: process mining on teachers selection and recruitment process; identifying students at risk of dropout for secondary schools; predicting students’ performance in GCE ‘O’ Level English language; modelling on factors of how teachers’ performance affects students achievement in literacy; and predicting students’ first choice of higher education programmes after ‘O’ Level.
Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, the guest of honour, presented certificates and tokens of appreciation.
