Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh yesterday visited three schools in the Brunei-Muara District – Rimba I Primary School, Rimba II Primary School and Rimba II Secondary School – in conjunction with the start of the new academic year.
The objectives of the visit were to review and observe the implementation of back-to-school activities; inspect school infrastructure and the facilities, such as pre-school classrooms, teachers’ room, school hall, canteens, prayer area, ablution area and the library, taking into account the amendment to the Compulsory Education Act that has lowered the schooling age from six to five, the integration of religious subjects into general education system; and the implementation of STEAM subjects.
The minister first visited Rimba I Primary School, where she was welcomed by headmistress Nurul Khairunniza binti Mohiddin.
The minister witnessed activities at the school’s hall and interacted with teachers as well as students.
Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah then visited Rimba II Primary School and was welcomed by headmaster Naruliswady bin Haji Samaih.
The minister visited the classrooms and observed a religious lesson in session.
At Rimba II Secondary School, the minister was welcomed by principal Hajah Siti Khadijah binti Haji Damit, before inspecting the school’s infrastructure to ensure that the building is conducive for learning.
