Findlay’s education consultants are the first in Brunei to complete the British Council’s new certified agent training, said the company in a statement on Thursday.
The company said it now appears on the British Council’s database of certified agents and counsellors, used by both students and institutions to identify potential agent partners.
The United Kingdom (UK) Agent and Counsellor Training is the flagship training programme for all agents and counsellors who work with UK education providers, it said in the statement.
“Findlay has always been committed to offering the highest standards of advice to its students,” said Findlay Managing Director Sunita Martin. “The British Council certification is an endorsement of our knowledge, professionalism and how seriously we take our role in shaping the futures of the young people of Brunei,” she said.
The certification process ensures that advisors possess the in-depth knowledge required by the UK education system to counsel students effectively.
Agents study a number of subjects and must pass assessments in each. They also have to sign up to the National Code of Ethical Practice for education agents before they can appear on the searchable agents and counsellor’s database, attesting to the fact that they have met the British Council’s demanding standards.
Sunita said, “The comprehensive nature of this training gives UK institutions confidence that they’re working with a knowledgeable and ethical education agent. More importantly, it assures our students that they can have every confidence that the advice they receive is of the highest quality, allowing them to make the best possible decision for their future.
“Attaining this milestone also underscores our commitment to training our staff to the highest ethical and professional standards.”
Apart from advising students on further education overseas, Findlay are the sole Licensed Practitioners in Brunei for the Morrisby Psychometric Career Profiling Assessment.
“The assessment tells candidates where their strengths lie and which university courses and careers will play to these strengths,” said Findlay Director, Training, and Consultancy William Martin.
