Eco Festival a success

The Eco Festival, organised during the Climate Action Week in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022), concluded recently.

The festival, from June 26 to July 3, was sponsored and supported by TotalEnergies EP (Brunei) BV with SparkscoBN as event organiser.

The event organised at the open plaza and underground area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex was a success with crowds participating in exciting environmental festivities and raising awareness on climate issues.

The visitors were treated to food and beverage stalls offering local delicacies and drinks, handicrafts, fashion products and other unique items.

Some of the highlights were an electric train operated by TotalEnergies and a booth for the public to learn more about the company and environmental issues as well as win prizes.

TotalEnergies’ participation in the event was part of its commitment to environmental sustainability under the TotalEnergies Foundation ACTION programme and corporate social responsibility. The company has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

According to TotalEnergies, Climate Action Week was a platform to share the company’s efforts worldwide such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its operations; development of new technologies in supporting initiatives that address climate challenges; and educating the public on its collaborations in biodiversity conservation and preservation in the sensitive environments it operates in.

TotalEnergies placed ‘sustainable development’ at the heart of its strategy, projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of the Sultanate’s population. This is part of the company’s contribution in realising the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) to collectively address the challenges of sustainability.
