In today’s market, “we need to be a sustainable business” and Unified National Networks (UNN) 51,000-square-feet data centre which is eco-efficient with its geo-redundancy infrastructure will be completed and ready for service by January 2024, said its Chief Executive Officer Dr Steffen Oehler.
He also spoke about the company’s vital investment to broaden its Data Centre IT (DC/IT) services portfolio for the future of information and communications technology market in Brunei.
Dr Oehler made these comments during the second UNN townhall meeting held recently to highlight the company’s performances, financial well-being, key achievements, the progress of the company’s current projects, future plans, employee development and welfare.
Held at the Banquet Hall, Bridex, Dr Oehler also highlighted UNN’s digital telecommunication and modernisation journey, including fibre rollout to the rural and urban areas, expansion of mobile coverage and building of fixed services in rural remote areas and the recent fixed broadband uplift to 100 Megabits per second as the baseline speed to be made accessible to everyone nationwide.
The townhall saw staff from various departments presenting updates on the company developments and current projects. To make the meeting more engaging and interactive, a quiz segment was introduced for UNN employees to win prizes. Transparency was encouraged across UNN as part of the “UNN way” work culture to promote open and honest communication, provide a sense of belonging, make employees accountable and builds trust among employees.
Prior to the townhall meeting, a month-long survey was conducted across the company to receive feedback and questions from employees to be addressed during the townhall.
Over 300 questions and feedback were received with some recommendations carried out during the townhall meeting, queries addressed during the updates and presentations, and others during the question and answer session at the end of the event. – James Kon
