Easy access to Al-Quran with Mushaf Brunei app

The Mushaf Brunei application is now fully accessible enabling the public to download. The number of users who have downloaded the application has reached 12,800 for iOS users and 20,600 android users since Tuesday.

“The application project is between the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), the Information Technology Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and MABIMS Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) that began in 2017,” said PDI Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Sallehin. He said this in his welcoming remarks at the launch of the recitation of the 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran radio programme ceremony yesterday.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the guest of honour, also officially launched the radio programme at the Songket Ballroom of The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong. Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan also attended.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah by ITQSHHB Education Officer Muhammad Najib bin Haji Ali Akbar, followed by a welcoming remark by the PDI Director in his capacity as the chairperson of the ceremony.

He highlighted the special features of recitation of the 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran recited by local hafiz, Hashim bin Haji Abdullah which also included a combination of murattal songs from famous hafiz including Dr Sheikh Mohd Ayyob Rahimahullah, Sheikh Abdullah Jabir Rahimahullah, Sheikh Mahmud Khalil Rahimahullah and Sheikh Mahmoud Ibrahim Ajlan.

The recording of the audio recitation has been reviewed and assessed by the designated committee from PDI and ITQSHHB, which took five years in stages to ensure listeners get the right pronunciations.

The solo recitation of the 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran will be aired around the clock on Radio Television Brunei ‘s (RTB) Al-Quran 89.1FM and 99.7FM.

PDI will continue to work towards improvising and upgrading the application capability as well as ensuring the application to be user friendly.

Prior to the launching of the radio programme, a video clip on the Mushaf Brunei application project was presented. The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat.

Among the objectives of airing Al-Quran recitation on the two local radio channels are to introduce the murattal Al-Quran by the local hafiz and to disseminate the new radio programme conducted by PDI. – Lyna Mohamad
