Orphans rejoiced yesterday as they received donations in a presentation ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Awangku Mohd Hakim bin Pengiran Haji Amir Mohd Saifuddien from Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School in Rimba, expressed his appreciation with a smile on his face.
“Alhamdulillah, this is the second time I have received the donation. I can use it for both my personal and family expenses. However, Hari Raya is also a sad moment because it makes me remember my dearly departed family members,” he said.
Meanwhile, for Nourel Ain binti Abdur Rahman from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, the upcoming Hari Raya will be a little brighter as she is thankful for the contribution which will be used to buy school essentials.
“I look forward to the joyous festivities that Ramadhan gives,” she said.
Another Arabic school student, Ahmad Abyad Naquiddin bin Sofyan, said he is delighted to receive the contribution as it infuses joy into the orphan’s life. “I will use the money to buy Hari Raya clothing like songkok,” he said.
Acknowledging the positive impact yesterday’s event had on orphans, Md Faris Syazani bin Md Sofandi from Rimba III Primary School also said it was the second time he received the contribution.
“I will save for future needs and share the rest with my parents and make syawal a little more memorable for those who are less fortunate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Md Aqil bin Zamree from Kampong Mengkubau said he is grateful for the donation, which will be spent on Hari Raya preparations. – Azlan Othman
