A pair of permanent residents were sentenced to 16 months’ jail on Saturday after pleading guilty to charges of theft and mischief.
Lee Fook Lin, 40, and Mohammad Abdul Azim bin Muhammad Azeezul Hakeem, 23, pulled and cut 12 kilogrammes of copper electric wires, making away with them, Acting Senior Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid heard.
Prosecutor Abdul Musawwir bin Haji Awang Mahli further revealed that the duo entered a company’s housing area in Seria on December 16. The house was left empty as it was planned for demolishment.
There, the duo took copper electric wires from the house. The theft was discovered by a security team, who lodged a police report leading to their arrest. – Fadley Faisal
