DPMM FC forward Andrei Varankou stole the show as a hat trick dented Lion City Sailors’ title hopes following a 3-3 draw in the Singapore Premier League 2023 at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore last night.
The designated hosts wasted little time to take the lead after forward Andrei Varankou nodded his side in front in the fourth minute.
However, the Lion City Sailors responded as Diego Lopes fired home a decent effort following a cutback by Maxime Lestienne.
It is a similar combination with the personnel orchestrating Lion City’s second goal as Maxime curled home his shot after Diego returned the favour with an assist.
The Brunei outfit replied as Varankou got his second of the game after Lion City Sailors goalkeeper could not keep out Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman’s initial effort.
The Lion City Sailors regained their lead as Maxime reacted to a free kick from Diego with that all too familiar partnership forcing the issue again.
But the Gegar Gegar men had the last laugh as Varankou completed his hat-trick after firing home from close range a minute from time.
