DPMM FC share spoils with Balestier Khalsa FC

DPMM FC concluded their campaign in the Selangor KUSEL Asia Challenge 2024 following a highly- entertaining 3-3 draw with Balestier Khalsa FC at Stadium MBPJ in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia on Sunday.

The invited clubs further enhanced their preparations ahead of the Singapore Premier League (SPL) 2024-2025 season, set to commence on May 10.

The Tigers looked to have continued DPMM FC woes, who were on the back of a 4-0 loss to Selangor FC, in the tournament after racing to a 2-0 lead through Masahiro Sugita and Kodai Tanaka.

However, the Brunei-based outfit battled back before the break through a double from young forward Hakeme Yazid Said.

The Gegar Gegar men established a 3-2 lead with Azwan Ali Rahman putting his side in front in the stroke of halftime but the teams settled for a draw as Alen Kozar struck in the 64th minute.

Meanwhile, hosts Selangor FC were confirmed as champions following a 4-0 victory over the Laotian side Young Elephants FC.

DPMM FC will begin their season against Young Lions on May 11, while Balestier Khalsa will take on Geylang International FC the day before.

The curtain raiser of the SPL season will begin with defending champions Albirex Niigata (S) playing against Lion City Sailors on May 4. – Fadhil Yunus
