DPMM FC put on resilient display against Lion City Sailors

DPMM FC put on a resilient display in the Singapore Premier League as they battled to a goalless draw against Lion City Sailors at the Bishan Stadium in Singapore on Saturday night.

The league leaders had a sniff in goal as forward Abdul Rasaq Akeem attempted a shot from outside the box but DPMM FC goalkeeper Kristijan Naumovski was able to make a routine save.

The visiting striker Davis Ikaunieks managed to keep the ball down but skewed his subsequent effort wide after Farshad Noor showed eagerness to bring the ball into a dangerous area.

With Lennart Thy looking to inflict damage at the heart of the DPMM FC defence, Hami Syahin blasted the ball high onto the roof after being laid by substitute Haiqal Pashia.

Lion City Sailors midfielder Song Ui-yong tried his luck from distance but ended wide with Naumovski having the ball covered all the way.

DPMM FC defender Damir Muminovic was allowed a free header in the box but Lion City Sailors goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud was relieved to see the ball land straight to his welcoming arms.

The home midfielder Rui Pires spotted the run of Maxime Lestienne with a cross who got in behind the DPMM FC backline but the former was not able to trouble Naumovski who gathered the ball to safety.

Lion City Sailors substitute Christopher Van Huizen had the ball on his feet right in the death and tried to curl into the top corner but was denied with a crucial header from Muminovic. – Fadhil Yunus
